UNFOLDING

SOLO EXHIBITION

12.6.- 2.7.2026
Art Salon Anais, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Unfolding presents fragments of an ongoing cycle of change. Ribbons coil and unfold, drawing attention to tactility and a slow, repetitive process. Nothing stays still; everything is constantly in the process of becoming something else. At times, this transformation occurs gradually, layer by layer, almost unnoticed.

A PRIMA VISTA

A PRIMA VISTA AT 3 DAYS OF DESIGN

10.–12.6.2026 Gammel Strand, Copenhagen, Denmark

Lokal Gallery’s participation at
3daysofdesign, produced together with The Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark.

The expression A Prima Vista is borrowed from musical terminology; playing directly from the notes at first sight (in other contexts, e.g. “amore a prima vista”). The theme of the exhibition is the blossoming of new life in late spring and early summer – that annual miracle. In typical Lokal fashion, the group exhibition consists largely of worlds and work ensembles that combine the traditions of fine arts, crafts and design.

SOMMARSTILLEBEN

LOKAL GALLERY’S SUMMER EXHIBITION

15.6.–24.8.2025
Ruukintie 8, 10330 Billnäs, Finland

Lokal makes an all-summer-long expedition to Billnäs, an old ironworks village to the West of Helsinki. Bringing beauty in the form of artwork, crafts and handmade homeware into a space which still starkly echoes its unique history, the Sommarstilleben exhibition is a celebration of Lokal’s core values. The still lifes are an ode to the magical, fleeting nature of the Nordic summer. The abundance consists of works in various mediums and materials, in varying scale and subject, by a number of Finnish and Finland-based contemporary artists and artisans. The exhibition is curated by Katja Hagelstam, and the exhibition architecture is by Hanni Koroma.

VIRTAA!

VIRTAA! UUTE 25 SUMMER EXHIBITION

5.6.–30.8.2025
Stockfors, Finland

Uute ry held a summer exhibition in the historic sawmill at Stockfors Village.
The theme of the exhibition was Virtaa (Currents), and the two-piece installation was inspired by the surrounding natural environment and the continuous flow of the river and landscape.

Currents is a series of two wall sculptures that reflects the cycle of nature and life. The works feature forms and curves, light and shadow, yet the flow of movement and the force that carries it forward are eternal.

LOKAL WHITE WALL

AMMONITES SOLO EXHIBITION

04.–06.2024
Lokal Gallery, Helsinki, Finland

The collection draws inspiration from ammonites - ancient marine creatures that lived millions of years ago. For protection, ammonites formed spiral chambers around themselves, expanding these structures as they grew. Over time, these chambers became beautifully calcified, their pearly surfaces preserved in fossil deposits across the ages.

The Ammonites collection consists of ten reliefs crafted from delicately shimmering wild silk, left undyed or lightly hand-dyed to enhance its natural beauty.
